Root for June 16th, 2005

I'm sorry I haven't been updating. I completely forgot about this community. x.x;;

Today's root of the day is necro. It is neither a prefix nor a suffix; it is a normal Greek root. Necro means "dead". Here are some examples of this root in context:

Necromancy: necro + mancy = divination with the dead

Necropolis: necro + polis = city of the dead

A necropolis is an old word for a cemetery.

And last but not least, the infamous...

Necrophiliac: necro + phil + iac = one who loves the dead

If you really want to know the modern definition for that word, look it up.
